Meetings held at IBM's Waltham Office
IBM Solution Partnership Center - East
404 Wyman Street (NORTH Entrance)
Waltham, MA
MEETING TOPICs:
We'll start off the NEW YEAR by taking a look at a "new" platform:
The Blackberry, www.rim.com. The latest mobile status symbol. A review
of Computer History indicates money is always made when a new platform
is adopted. The adoption rate of Blackberrys in corporate america suggests
this is an application whose time has come. We are most fortunate to have
Jon Christensen, a Technical Manager for Blackberry to speak on: "A
BlackBerry Technical Overview, Implementing and Extending your Wireless
Data Architecture".
This BlackBerry Platform overview will show how the new BlackBerry Enterprise
Server v4.0 architecture can best be used in a current or planned BlackBerry
environment. Additionally, he will present a technical architecture
review of Mobile Data Services on the BES: extending the BlackBerry solution
beyond email and PIM. Jon will discuss simple to implement applications
that can make your job easier and solve business needs. Perhaps even suggestions
on how
to get your domino applications onto a Blackberry phone.
Topics include:
- Extending Web-Based Applications with the BlackBerry Browser
- Developing Custom Client/Server Applications for the BlackBerry
Handheld
- Current 3rd Party BlackBerry solutions including Field Service
and Sales Force Automation
Also at 6:30pm, The Turtle, www.weightlessdog.com,
(Scott Wenzel, gonzo@weightlessdog.com) will call into Waltham to give
us his informed perspective on Lotusphere based on his many years of attendence
and his on-site reporting and presentations. David DeJean reported from
Lotusphere 2003, "I went because I had to find out whether Turtle,
who in previous years has been famously reclusive, actually exists or is
a myth. After his session, I can report that he is not a myth... Wenzel
did mix large helpings
of Lotusphere folk history with a cook's tour of his site and some of its
features, like the polls. ...Then he mounted his Segway transporter and
made one of the most effective exits in breakout session history, zooming
down the aisle and out of the room." Perhaps he will have time to
answer a few of your questions.
AGENDA:
6:30 "The Turtle" phones in with an update on Lotusphere!
7:00 Jon Christensen, Research in Motion,
Cingular Business Unit Technical Manager
8:45 ANNOUNCEMENTS
8:50 CLINIC - Q&A -- Bring your Lotus Notes & Domino
